The University of the Nouvelle Grand Anse (UNOGA) was founded by a Chicagoan, Renate Schneider in 2009 in Jeremie. Its courses center on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Management, and Administration. The goal of the General Studies Program is to introduce the students to a wide gamut of knowledge in the humanities and technical sciences, to foster analytical capacities, help the students assist in research, develop a critical disposition and become life-long learners. The program will give students the intellectual, moral and esthetic basis to make wise choices, stimulate a creative spirit and a sense of service for their country and community. Courses are taught in French, English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
Last year all of the 12 faculty members had PHD’s and donated their time and services. UNOGA is continually looking for new teachers who are willing to come and teach a variety of subjects, even for a very limited time. Please contact Fr. Laz if you are interested in teaching.
