Our Work

Our work is mostly with education and jobs.  The old adage, “Give a person a fish and they are fed for a day:  Teach a person to fish and they are fed for a lifetime,” best describes our work.  Our work is to provide the best education possible so that students and adults are able to find employment to transform their own lives and the lives of many others.

Hearts for Humanity is developing and piloting InterActive Education for Haiti.  This Inquiry-based learning has transformed many schools and students throughout the United States.  Students have learned to think critically and to problem-solve.  Students are prepared for the jobs that will exist when they leave school and not for jobs that no longer exist in our world.  Within the next two years we plan to offer Inquiry-based learning to all of the schools of Haiti.

Hearts for Humanity also provides scholarships and nutrition for students, young and old, in Haiti in the Dominican Republic.  So many students cannot afford to go to school.  They are in need of uniforms, books, and food in order to sustain themselves in school.

Through microfinance loans as well as providing training in arts and crafts and the raising of chickens and goats, Hearts for Humanity is teaching people to fish and not simply giving them a fish.
